Vocabulary Instruction Program Meets Needs of Mobile Device Movement in Classrooms
EPS Literacy and Intervention, a division of School Specialty, Inc., announced today the release of the Wordly Wise 3000® Online app for iPad®. Now available on the App Store, the Wordly Wise 3000 Online app for iPad allows students to seamlessly transition between activities on their iPads and a desktop, with all of their results showing up in the teacher's reports. Wordly Wise 3000 Online is a dynamic and interactive program that helps students master the academic vocabulary that they encounter in school every day.

Awards Recognize Students for Learning Gains in Reading and Math, Teachers for Going Above and Beyond
EPS today announced the winners of its 2013 Academy Star Awards. These annual awards honor students who have overcome significant challenges to build proficiency in reading and math, as well as teachers who go above and beyond on a daily basis to provide their students with every opportunity to improve their skills. Four students were recognized as Academy Stars and two teachers earned Academy Teachers of Excellence honors.

Ridgegate Elementary Sees Achievement Skyrocket and Enthusiasm for Learning Soar
Last year, when Principal Lavanta Williams first came to Ridgegate Elementary School in Fort Bend, Texas, the school was considered "low performing" in math and reading proficiency, after failing to meet AYP targets for both subjects. He was in need of new ways to move his students forward and get them excited about the subjects they were learning. Today, state assessment tests show Ridgegate has met its AYP targets for both reading and math, with 90 percent and 86 percent of students meeting the standards respectively, with an increase of 12 percent in both subjects over the previous year.

These eBooks support instruction in the S.P.I.R.E. program and can also be used with other phonics based programs or independently to support beginning or struggling readers.
