Who should attend?
All educators and administrators interested in increasing spelling skills and seeing the results in student writing. The Sitton approach has been used in general education classes, special education, by English-language learners, and Title I students in grades 1–8. Curriculum supervisors, staff development trainers, teacher mentors, and literacy coaches all benefit from the instructional strategies modeled. Whether you want to streamline usage of your Sitton materials in the classroom or you want to explore the Sitton strategies, this seminar fits your needs.
What are the hours of the seminar?
Catered luncheon: Noon–1:00pm
Do I need to be a Sitton program user to benefit from attending?
Our seminar attendees are usually a combination of educators who are using the Sourcebooks and those who are not using the program but are searching for a more effective approach for teaching spelling. While the seminar content addresses spelling and word skills instruction derived from the Sitton program, many of the activities and ideas can be incorporated into your current instruction no matter what program you use.

Is the Seminar handbook the same as the Sourcebook?
No, the seminar handbook is a separate resource of over 150 pages. It aids in note taking and elaborates on concepts and activities addressed during the seminar. You’ll find it serves as a valuable ongoing reference as you implement the Sitton approach.
If I’ve already attended a Sitton seminar, would I benefit from attending again?
Teachers who attend this seminar more than once comment how much they continue to learn, having returned with the experience and perspective of implementing these strategies. You will also enjoy the benefit of raising questions during the breaks with the trainer that pertain specifically to your needs. If you have any question about whether you should attend a Sitton seminar as a repeat participant, we invite you to call us.
