Testimonials

“The greatest thing about Touchphonics is that my student teachers and I can reach children who we wouldn’t be able to reach otherwise. [W]orking one-on-one with students from kindergarten to 6th grade, we saw fluency levels jump as much as 2 to 3 grade levels in one semester.”
Cindy Larson Reading and Language Arts Faculty
Brigham Young University
“I’ve seen the light come on behind so many children’s eyes as they realize, ‘Now I get it!’ Touchphonics is the link that helps students connect phonics to reading and writing.”
Nycole Larsen, M.Ed. Reading Specialist
Chicago, Illinois
“The beauty of Touchphonics is the immediate success each child feels, which leads to a more relaxed and positive attitude. As their self-esteem improves, their learning channels reopen.”
Pat Helm Title One Coordinator
Solano School
Phoenix, Arizona
“I tutored nine students using Touchphonics with real literature. They advanced at least one grade level and in some cases one and a half grade levels in reading.”
Ann Thober Woodland Park Elementary
Norfolk, Nebraska
“Because it works fast! I love the organized trays and teaching guide. My prep time is minimal and the quick results of my students make me look good. I love the Touchphonics readers.”
Yadira Uotila Arctic Light Elementary, AK

  • Enhance memory and learning
  • Understand the structure of words without drill

Unique design unlocks the mystery for struggling readers!

Each Touchphonics lesson introduces a particular phoneme or phonemic pattern. Through manipulation of the Touch-Units®students then can link sounds to letters, recognize patterns, and build and write words before finally reading words in context. Touch-Units make decoding concepts attainable by involving four modalities: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile. Touchphonics unlocks the reading process for students of varied abilities, within the following populations:

  • Struggling Readers
  • Students with Attention Deficit Disorders
  • Dyslexic students
  • English Language Learners

  • Autistic students
  • Students with Cerebral Palsy

Word building with Touch-Units

Touch-UnitWord building is the key step in every Touchphonics lesson where students work with Touch-Units to build and manipulate words. Touch-Units are three dimensional letters and linked letter combinations that provide concrete representations of the essential English graphemes. Touch-Units are made of soft, flexible, rubber (latex free)*, with a textured surface to intensify the tactile neurological input—crucial to at-risk readers.

Easily aligns with any phonics or basal program

Any phonics concept introduced can be preceded by a Touchphonics® lesson for that same concept. This allows at-risk students to develop abstract phonics concepts with targeted, tactile lessons before paper-and-pencil practice.
